Aircraft
Some aircraft became as well known as it's crew, such as Kingsford-Smith's Fokker Tri Motor "Southern Cross" and the Smith Brothers Vicker Vimy, while others became infamous due to tragic circumstances. Aircraft design in Australia can be traced back to Lawrence Hargrave's Box Kites in the 1890's, John Duigan's pusher design in 1910, through to the only fully Australian-designed and built fighter to see production during WWII, the CAC Boomerang to Lawrence Wackett's CAC Wirraway to the GAF Jindivik, a successful target drone. Recently a collaborative project between Boeing Australia and the Royal Australian Air Force saw the successful trials of the Loyal Wingman is an Australian-designed and built, semi-autonomous, uncrewed combat aircraft known as the MQ-28A Ghost Bat.
Soon we will be making avialable short vignettes and articles about these aircraft as well as a gallery of surviving museum aircraft for all to share, if you require infomation about a particular aircraft, please Contact Us.
